Are social networking sites causing us to be less personal?

Social networking too many has become such an addiction that it seems just like a part of life. So many times people will log onto the internet and not even notice that they first check their social networking site before starting to work. This is something that has really mad a lot of people not work as hard as they could be. So many times people don’t even realize they were just on a site for over an hour. And the feel that as soon as they get something done they deserve a reward and go on another social networking site.

This is much more with girls than it is with guys but girls will say super mean stuff to other girls through social networking sites. They are things that no one would say it if they had to say it face to face. I believe that social networking sites are making us cowards when it comes to facing our problems. I don’t know how many times I’ve seen two girls in the same place just talking crap about each other but neither of them will confront the other. However as soon as they are home they will post something on their social networking site.

Also, these sites are taking precious moments away from us. When it was someone’s birthday before social networking sites, you would call or text them to tell them happy birthday. Now all you do is write it on their wall. I can honestly say I cannot remember everyone who wished me a happy birthday, all I remember is the calls or gifts I got. These sites are really talking nice gestures and throwing them away. It doesn’t really mean anything if you can post something one someone’s wall, it proves that they are not that important to get a call. Birthdays have lost their meanings and are not as celebrated as they use to be.

  1. personally, i feel like social networks have made peopel less personal. I mean if u look at a persons facebook for example, ur more than likely to find pictures of what they did last week at a party. Also people always post a status of how they feel so often, it is like a personal life online. U always know what happens
